Hi folks,

Believe it or not, John Grogan is a member of the American Society for Testing & Materials / ASTM. He has a say and a vote in the work of commitee E-52 who is shaping the future standards of this profession we are in. I about puked. Therefore, I made sure the oversight management of this committee was fully informed of Grogan's recent porno movie. I guess I'm just old fashioned; but I reasoned it out that a guy with No Standards had no place sitting on, or voting on, a standards committee like E-52. Let's hope this rises to the level of an I.A. for them, and the right thing is done by doing an abortion on Grogan from that body. He has NO DOUBT earned being banned from it. Further, PEOA as a trojan horse organization, should draw no reference or legitimacy from being a part of that body.

For those of you who are ASTM members, please let the honorable Joe Kourey know how you feel about the Grogan Poly-Porno event, and his membership in such an organization. Such is the power of Democracy.

ASTM International, formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials, is a voluntary standards development organization that produces standards based on the consensus of its members. Members of technical committees such as Committee E52 on Forensic Psychophysiology include producers, users, consumers, and general interest parties. Accordingly, the consensus determines the content of standards through a voting process which provides each member with an equal voice.

By maintaining an open, voluntary consensus forum, standards may be used in laws, regulations and codes. The use of such standards have been further strengthened by Public Law 104-113 [National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act of 1995; see Sec 12.d. .]http://standards.gov/standards_gov/nttaa.cfm]. Accordingly, voluntary consensus forums typically prohibit discrimination of parties who chose to participate in standards production. This function becomes paramount when considering the role and function of due process, as it relates to all members.

The preceding information was partially summarized from: http://www.astm.org/FAQ/whatisastm_answers.html

This was an issue that came up when he joined. He can't be banned, and he shouldn't be for reasons stated above, so don't bug Joe Koury. ASTM Int isn't a private "by invitation only" club. Maschke can join too, For the life of me, I can't figure out why he hasn't.

Grogan has never contributed anything to ASTM that I know of, and he votes affirmatively for all the standards he violates. I think it just shows what an opportunist he is. For him to cast a negative vote, he'd have to articulate why he was against something and he have to do it in a way to sway others members to agree with him. That isn't going to happen. It does show the reason more examiners should join.

"and he votes affirmatively for all the standards he violates."

Thanks Barry, this was the first time I was able to laugh today.
